Songs to Skip on Your iPod - 11 - To Whom It May Concern
Lyrics:
To whom it may concern
I know for what you all yearn
There are words with two meanings
And your supports are all leaning
It’s the unimportant things
Of which our virtues seem to bring
A callous hand will simply rise
And meet with the burden of new eyes
You’ll find hope when all is lost
And meet change but there’s a cost
The ferryman takes his toll
Whilst you lose a chunk of soul
The fire has lost all of its burn
And yet the world continues its turn
As if everything is alright
As if there has never been a night
Words should have been left unsaid
And my cheek is still quite red
So there’s light between the clouds
And we’ve never been so proud
Our machina will begin to rust
We’re now victims of the lust
Keeping stratagems unspoken
Keeping the shells as a small token
Leave your shadows all behind
So the machina again will grind
There’s no faith in his words
No I-N-G in his verbs
Feel the calamity of the situation
As extremities reach sensation
But the pain is all too real
And the scars will never heal
So hold dear to what you own
As you traverse to the unknown
Refrain from looking back with all your might
Until the destination is in sight
Your wounds will begin to itch
As each demon flips his switch
Have you forgotten about the moon
As you burst through your cocoon
Leave something for all your take
And leave a trail in your wake
Is this destruction or creation
Only the insane reach elation
And you will find me here
I’ll whisper softly in your ear
That I haven’t even learned to feel
And am likely not even real
Another toll must be paid
As you cross back over the glade
You may as well empty your sack
From this trip you won’t come back

This was some stupid poem that I had written, then recorded with a weird “vocoder”, which is basically talking or singing through a synthesizer. It’s different than auto-tuning, but not by much. Believe it or not, this wasn’t thrown in as filler, but was originally intended to be one of the tracks on this album.
